Election to Office Should Be a Reward

I am comfortable with the way elections are run now.

The COOCVE Directors, especially those who make the effort to attend COOCVE (and CenClub and CVEMM) meetings, are the most interested and informed people in the Village. They are generally the hard workers for the Associations and the Village, and they know who the other residents are that work on behalf of the Associations and the governing entities.

Those who are interested, informed and dedicated should be the ones who decide who should run the various organizations. Opening up the vote to a broader mostly uninformed and apathetic group would make the election a "beauty contest" for those who may look and sound good but may not have put in the effort to attend or volunteer to work on our behalf.

Even now, some who have run for positions on the COOCVE, CenClub and CVEMM Boards have rarely attended meetings or worked in associations, organizations or Clubs to benefit a larger group. Many are single issue people who may have a particular agenda rather than a broad interest to help. Election to an office should be a reward for work done and effort expended and not the result of short-term politicking.
