Line dancers cross the border

In August, we resumed our yearly trip to Canada to meet and dance with our Canadian friends from CVE.

On Saturday, August 19 and Sunday August 20, we joined Rejeanne and Raymond Labrecht in Magog, Canada for two days of line dancing. Magog is a city in southern Quebec approximately 90 miles east of Montreal. Rejeanne and Raymond are the leaders of the country line dance club in CVE which meets on Thursday evenings in the party room of CVE. They arranged two days of line dancing with over 20 Canadian and American line dancers. Les Complices (Ginette Lauzon and Laurent Labrecque) assisted with providing singing and music for the line dancers.

On Monday August 21, we drove to Montreal. After a late lunch with Maria and Renato Priolo, residents of Islewood D, we drove to Lachine, a beautiful place along the waterfront. There, we joined a crowd of approximately 250 line dancers. The line dancers were led by Nicole St-Onge, one of the line dance teachers of the French Alliance group in CVE. Many of the line dancers attending this event are winter residents of CVE.

On Tuesday, August 22, we were invited guests at a luncheon at the home of Daniel and Larraine Rosenthal. Also invited were 9 Century Village residents.

On Wednesday, we traveled to St. Jerome, a city located about 30 miles northwest of Montreal. We met for lunch with Diane Figler and Richard Demers. After lunch, Richard gave us a walking tour of the historic downtown of St. Jerome. There we saw amazing decorations and structures.

On Thursday, we met for lunch with our good friends, Pauline LeBlanc and Joe and Linda DiFabio, residents of CVE. That evening, we drove to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park in Cote St,-Luc and joined over 30 line dancers, many from CVE. We danced one and half hours until the rain came!

On Friday morning we left Canada. Wow! What a wonderful week in Canada. We were treated royally by our Canadian friends.

We are looking forward to our next trip in the summer of 2024. Perhaps, you will join us.
