Century Village East voters made their voices heard in a big way during Deerfield Beach’s March municipal elections, helping to propel Daniel Shanetzky and Todd Drosky to victory in their respective races.

In the polling precinct that covers only Century Village East, Shanetzky captured 52 percent of the District 3 Commission race, earning 555 votes from residents there. His closest competitor, Philip Edward Bradley, finished a distant second with 28 percent of the precinct’s vote, tallying 299 votes. Karen Shelley, the third candidate in the race, received 20 percent support in the Village, gathering 215 votes.

For Shanetzky, Century Village East was his best-performing precinct citywide, if only be a single percentage point — even edging out another precinct where he earned 51 percent of the vote. The strong show of support from Century Village voters gave him an important boost toward his overall win.

The mayoral race showed an even wider margin inside Century Village East. Todd Drosky, running for mayor, pulled in 65 percent of the precinct’s votes, totaling 695 ballots cast in his favor. His opponent, Dan Herz, collected 29 percent of the Village’s votes, or 313 ballots.

While these numbers reflect just one precinct, they highlight the pivotal role Century Village East continues to play in shaping the outcome of Deerfield Beach elections. With hundreds of ballots cast, the active voting bloc at Century Village once again proved to be a major factor at the polls.

The newly elected leaders are expected to be sworn in soon, marking a new chapter for Deerfield Beach — one heavily influenced by the voters of Century Village East.
