Master Management Reminder Aims at More Efficient Meetings

With CVE Master Management Board of Directors meetings resuming for the season on Sept. 17, residents are being reminded of guidelines governing what topics can be addressed during meetings.

The policy is intended to keep meetings focused on matters that fall within CVE Master Management’s responsibilities while continuing to provide residents an opportunity to address the Board.

Resident comments must relate to CVE Master Management business, including its operations, services, governance, policies, projects, facilities and maintenance responsibilities.

The comment period is not intended to serve as a general community forum for matters outside CVE Master Management’s jurisdiction. That includes City of Deerfield Beach business, issues involving individual condominium associations, CenClub matters or other general community information.

The management company suggested residents with information they believe should be shared throughout the Village can contact the CVE Reporter about possible publication in an upcoming issue.

While CVE Master Management Board meetings can sometimes have the look and feel of public government meetings, there is an important distinction. CVE Master Management is a private organization, and its Board meetings are conducted for the purpose of addressing the company’s business and responsibilities.

Resident participation is welcome when it relates to that business. However, unlike the public comment period at a government meeting, the Board is permitted to establish rules governing resident comments and ensure speakers remain focused on matters within CVE Master Management’s jurisdiction.

Under the policy, speakers may generally be allotted up to three minutes, although the Board Chair or Board of Directors may adjust speaking times or the overall comment period when necessary.

The Board Chair oversees resident comments and may interrupt, redirect or end comments that stray from CVE Master Management business or otherwise fall outside the policy.

The guidelines are intended to streamline meetings and keep the meetings focused on issues directly related to CVE Master Management and its responsibilities within Century Village East.
