Security Team Honored for Going Above and Beyond

Ten members of the Allied Universal Security team at Century Village East have been recognized for actions ranging from helping save a resident’s life to apprehending trespassers and safely securing a firearm discovered inside the community.

The security personnel were honored during an Aug. 6 awards ceremony recognizing exceptional performance, professionalism and actions taken during several incidents in June and July.

Several of the awards stemmed from a life-threatening medical emergency involving a resident on July 24.

Senior Director of Security Leif Herman was recognized for providing immediate lifesaving first aid, while Security Officers Delouise Isom and Georia Williams were honored for assisting during the emergency.

Security Officer Jane Ramirez was also recognized for the response, which included safely moving the resident out of a traffic area and providing aid until additional assistance arrived. Security Major Peter Rossi was honored for assisting the resident and providing support throughout the incident.

Other awards recognized security personnel for their response to unauthorized individuals entering or attempting to enter the community.

Security Lieutenant Saara Silvera and Security Officer Amos Lubin were honored for apprehending a trespasser on July 18 who had an active No Contact Order.

Security Sergeant Chasity Gibbs received recognition for actions during two separate incidents. On June 14, Gibbs helped apprehend and detain a trespasser attempting to gain access to the property. Gibbs was again recognized for apprehending and detaining a disturbed trespasser who gained access to the property on July 19.

Security Officer Nehemie Pierre was also honored for apprehending and detaining the trespasser attempting to gain access to the property during the June 14 incident.

Security Captain Shallel Satchell received recognition for safely securing a firearm and other evidence discovered on the property on July 19 and ensuring the items were properly turned over to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The awards recognized the vigilance and professionalism demonstrated by members of the Allied Universal Security team and the role their actions played in protecting and assisting Century Village East residents.
