Four professional tennis players visited Century Village East in January, giving residents a rare opportunity to watch elite-level talent up close and even step onto the court with competitors currently playing on the professional tour.

On January 11, the CVE Tennis Club hosted four female tennis professionals at the Activity Center tennis courts for a fun and competitive event organized by the club. The players, all currently competing on the professional tennis tour, were Malkia Ngounoue, Anastassiya Sharapova, Savanna Wright, and Samantha Alicea.

The visit was arranged by Ron Perry, the CVE Tennis Club’s teaching professional, and coordinated by Michel Alloul and Carol Ann Valente. The event drew a crowd of residents eager to see high-level tennis and learn more about the players’ experiences on tour.

Each of the visiting pros introduced herself and spoke about her educational background, tennis training, and experiences competing professionally. For residents interested in following their progress, the players shared their names so fans could track their rankings and results on the professional circuit.

The on-court action began with the four professionals playing matches against one another in various combinations, with Ron Perry also joining them on the court to showcase his skills. Later, several CVE tennis players were invited to participate in a series of fun matches alongside the pros, giving residents the chance to test their games against elite competition. Many participants held their own on the courts, and the matches provided an entertaining and memorable experience for both players and spectators.

The CVE Tennis Club has additional activities planned in the coming months, including men’s and women’s tournaments, ongoing ladder matches for men’s, women’s, and mixed teams, trips to the Miami Tennis Open, intramural competitions, daily team play, and doubles strategy lessons with Ron Perry.
