The CVE Fishing Club and Ellesmere E residents hosted the 9th Annual “Play HOOK-e from PTSD: Take a Veteran Fishing Day” on March 10, 2026, honoring more than 25 veterans with a day of fishing and a barbecue.
This year’s event was dedicated to Rob Ford, a former board member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12, who was known for maintaining the chapter’s website and supporting fellow veterans.
The Play HOOK-e from PTSD program promotes eco-therapy and outdoor activities for veterans.
Members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12 South supported the event and invited Arlene Frankel of Honor Flight South Florida, who provided information about upcoming Honor Flight trips and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial “Moving Wall,” scheduled for April 24 through April 27 at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds in Davie.
Veterans participated in fishing and socializing, with several sharing their experiences. The event was supported by the Ellesmere E Board, CVE Fishing Club President Bill Montgomery, volunteers, and residents, with additional parking provided by Ellesmere A.
