Century Village Jerusalem Day Celebration
Jerusalem Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5th. We at Century Village will celebrating at 3:00pm at the Clubhouse Party Room (doors open at 2:30pm).
Jerusalem Day is the celebration of the reunification of the entire City of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem was for thousands of years ‘one city’ until in 1948. As the State of Israel was formed by the United Nations, the Jordanian forces fought, and occupied the area called East Jerusalem and the West Bank (of the Jordan River). Then, in 1967, a reunification occurred during the Six Day War. Prior to this reunification, Christians and Jews could not travel to visit the Arab controlled Old City of Jerusalem. After the reunification, all of the three main religions (Jewish, Muslim, and Christian) have been able to visit and pray at all of their Holy Sites. Jerusalem became one city for all religions.
Come and join in the Century Village Jerusalem Day Celebration. The festivities will include videos and festive music, Rabbi’s speeches and greetings from honored guests, and, of course, …refreshments.
This is a different year. We cannot be all joyous this year, since Israel was attacked on October 7th, and has been at war with Hamas since then. We will also remember the hostages that are still in Hamas captivity.
