COOCVE Selects New President

A new president has been chosen to lead COOCVE following the resignation of former president Donna Capobianco.
In a closed-door meeting of COOCVE leadership, Macky Bachelor, COOCVE’s First Vice President was selected as the new president.
The change comes after the former president announced the last week of February, she was leaving COOCVE, effective immediately. In an email to the CVE Reporter, Capobianco wrote she is "leaving CVE soon to live in Costa Rica."
In an exclusive interview with the CVE Reporter, Capobianco expressed satisfaction with her decision, and said she accomplished everything she intended during her tenure.
Capobianco told the CVE Reporter she viewed her legacy as including the creation of the Community Improvement and Accreditation Committee. The CIAC program evaluates associations’ accounting practices, budgets and reserves, meeting and election procedures, screening of owners and tenants, etc. Capobianco also said she tried to find ways for the over 250 separate village associations to work together, benefiting from possible economies of scale.
Her time as the leader of COOCVE was not without a certain level of controversy. Some critics accused her of attempting to dismantle COOCVE. The belief was fueled, in part, by changes to COOCVE’s organizational structure and rules, as well as efforts exploring whether to fold COOCVE under the authority of CVE Master Management. Currently COOCVE operates as a separate corporate entity.
To her critics, Capobianco told the CVE Reporter she never would have run for COOCVE president if ending the organization was her agenda.
“If I really wanted to get rid of COOCVE, I would have said ‘Let it go,’” said Capobianco.
“Associations were not paying, and it wasn’t doing a bloody thing for a while. I felt the same way. But I believe people can change the way they think.”
Capobianco said she hoped her successor would “continue moving forward with ways to help educate our owners and associations.”
Macky Bachelor, chosen to replace Capobianco, will serve as COOCVE president until the end of the current term which concludes in February, 2026. Elections for a new COOCVE president will be held in January, 2026.
