CVE residents will have the opportunity to sharpen their driving skills and stay safer on the roads when the AARP Smart Driver course returns to the Clubhouse on April 16. The full-day class is designed specifically for older adults and focuses on techniques and strategies to improve driving safety.
As we age, our reaction times, vision, and flexibility may change, making defensive driving more important than ever. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drivers aged 65 and older are involved in 19 percent of all traffic fatalities, despite representing only about 17 percent of licensed drivers. Courses like AARP’s can help reduce those risks by promoting safe driving habits and increased awareness behind the wheel.
The class will run all day, and participants are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members, and payment must be made by check. To reserve a spot, bring your check to the CenClub staff office.
Whether you're looking to refresh your skills, qualify for a possible auto insurance discount, or simply gain more confidence on the road, this class is a valuable resource for older drivers in the Village. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
