Congregants of Temple B’nai Shalom wrote, directed, performed, and produced a play on May 24th on the stage at LeClub. It was attended by more than 150 people who thoroughly enjoyed the evening. “Two Many Wives” is a story about a man whose wife disappears and is pronounced legally dead allowing him to remarry. Unfortunately (or fortunately) his “deceased” wife returns just as he remarries. Then the fun begins.

The comedy was performed by 12 members of B’nai Shalom with no acting experience. The dialogue was read on stage, not memorized. There was no scenery and no costumes. Nevertheless the audience still enjoyed the play and had a great time laughing at the funny lines. The play was recorded and placed on YouTube. The cast plans to perform the play again at another synagogue in the area.

This play is another example of why Temple B’nai Shalom continues to grow.  B’nai Shalom employs various social activities to build community among the Jews in the area. Activities include an annual cruise, Broadway style shows, monthly Lunch and Learn sessions, movie and comedy nights, sing-alongs, scavenger hunts, as well as home grown plays. Combine this with the upbeat Friday night services led by Cantor Mitch Martin and it becomes apparent why B’nai Shalom continues to grow as Jews in the area are always made to feel welcome.

Shabbat Services are held every Friday night at 7:30 PM in the Activity Center, led by Cantor Mitch Martin, followed by an Oneg Shabbat. More information about Temple B’nai Shalom can be found on the website, templebnaishalom.org, or by contacting Paul Scheiner at (630) 452-1131.
