No Property Tax Rate Hike for CVE Residents

At a budget hearing held in July, the Deerfield Beach City Commission voted to set next year’s not-to-exceed millage rate equal to the current year’s rate—effectively guaranteeing that there will be no increase in the city’s property tax rate for the coming fiscal year. This means the maximum millage rate that can be adopted in September will remain unchanged.

While the millage rate will stay flat, it’s important to remember that the amount residents pay in property taxes is ultimately determined by their property’s assessed value. If a property’s appraisal increases, the tax bill may still rise even if the millage rate does not.

Deerfield Beach has held the line on property tax rates since 2020, maintaining fiscal stability without raising the rate for five consecutive years. The city’s upcoming budget is expected to generate approximately $71 million in general fund revenue.

Final approval of the budget will take place in September, when the City Commission will adopt both the budget and the official millage rate for the fiscal year.
