Roberta S. Shapiro, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died peacefully, Tuesday, April 7th at the age of 97. Roberta was born in New York City on October 26, 1927. She was a source of unwavering strength to all that knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love for her family and devotion to the Durham building where she lived for 30 years.

She is survived by her three children: Edyth, Debra and Alan. Her grandchildren: Jeremy and Jared. And her 3 great grandchildren: Lily, Ava and Reece. And her son-in-laws Ed and Stewart and Alan's partner, Judy.

Upon getting married to Nathan Shapiro they eventually moved to Lake Hiawatha, NJ. Sheraised her family, and was an active member of the Lake Hiawatha Jewish Center, created long lasting relationships in the community, and was a devoted caregiver to her husband NathanShapiro, who died when Bobbi, (what everyone called her) was 54 years old.

Bobbi continued working and retired at 65. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Century Village Eastin Deerfield Beach, Florida. With her Lake Hiawatha friends, they continued their weekly mahjong games, celebrating the Jewish Holidays together and enjoyed the Florida sunshine andtraveling on bus trips to see America.

Within a couple of years of living in CVE, Bobbi became an active member of the Board of Directors for her building. She held the position of president and vice president for many years. Her unwavering strength made her building one of the best in CVE. In 2024 she was awarded a plaque "thanking Roberta Shapiro for her years of dedication to Durham A, Building 1, Century Village.” That plaque hangs outside the Board of Directors office for all to see for years to come.

Thank you, mom, for making us who we are. Strong, resilient, caring people.
