Longtime CVE resident Arthur D. “Ponto” Ponto, of Prescott B, passed away July 14, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving behind cherished memories and lifelong friendships.
Born Dec. 4, 1936, in the Federal Hill section of Providence, Rhode Island, Ponto was known for his kind heart and the lasting impression he made on those who knew him.
During his career as a long-haul truck driver, Ponto traveled an extraordinary 6.3 million miles across the country behind the wheel of a semi-trailer truck. His accomplishments on the road earned him numerous driving awards throughout his career.
Ponto also gave back to his community through service with the Deerfield Beach Police Department.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, neighbors and all those whose lives he touched.
A small gathering celebrating Ponto’s life is planned for September.
