Deerfield Beach residents will soon have the chance to improve home safety thanks to a smoke detector giveaway organized by City Commissioner Daniel Shanetzky and the American Red Cross.

The program will be formally announced during the Century Village East Master Management Board meeting on Wednesday, October 16. Immediately following the meeting, residents will be able to visit the COOCVE office to sign up to receive a new smoke detector at no cost. The detectors are being provided through the American Red Cross as part of its ongoing efforts to promote fire safety and preparedness in local communities.

Commissioner Shanetzky, who helped organize the initiative, said the program is designed to provide residents with an extra layer of security and peace of mind. With smoke detectors recognized as one of the most effective tools for saving lives in the event of a fire, the city and its partners are encouraging as many residents as possible to take advantage of the giveaway.

Additional details, including distribution schedules and installation information, will be shared at the October 16 meeting and at the COOCVE office.
