Temple B’nai Shalom hosted an outstanding Tu B’Shevat Seder last month.
Tu B’Shevat, the New Year of the Trees was celebrated with a Seder at a special Lunch and Learn session in the Century Village Activity Center. Close to 50 people participated with each person given 4 cups of grape juice, increasing in color from white to purple, representing the four seasons from winter to summer, along with the nuts and fruits that these trees produce.
Cantor Mitch Martin led the service with a reading describing the symbolism and meaning of each of the four steps of the Seder. He led the group through the significance behind the cups of nuts and fruits and the specifically colored grape juice as he explained the story behind the celebration.
Temple B’nai Shalom continues to bring Jews of all persuasions together socially as well as spiritually. Among recent social events was the show “The Producers” at the Delray Playhouse, and “I Love You’re Perfect now Change” at the Willow Theater in Sugar Sand Park. Another Caribbean cruise is planned for next winter on Celebrity Cruises.
