A New Social Club Brings CVE Together

A new chapter in CVE’s social life is bringing residents together, as two longtime community traditions have evolved into the Century Village East Social Club, an inclusive group offering activities, outings and opportunities for both singles and couples to make new friends.

The club has its roots in two groups that were part of CVE life for nearly two decades. The Social Singles group, led by Felicia Prince, provided companionship and connection for residents who were single, divorced or widowed. It was particularly meaningful during holidays and special occasions, providing a place where residents could spend time with others rather than feel alone.

At the same time, the Newbies Club, led by Rebecca Karan, welcomed both singles and couples who were new to CVE. It gave newcomers an opportunity to meet their neighbors, learn about the community and begin forming friendships.

Although the two groups served different purposes and operated independently, both filled an important social role within the Village.

When the longtime leaders of both groups eventually stepped down, no one initially volunteered to take their place. Recognizing the importance of continuing those opportunities, Thea Morrison approached her friend Susan Saleh and encouraged her to take over the Singles group.

Once Saleh became involved, the group began to evolve. Members expressed an interest in including partners in activities, creating an opportunity to combine the purposes of the former Singles and Newbies clubs into something new.

The result was the Century Village East Social Club, open to residents looking to meet people, build friendships and enjoy activities together.

Since its formation, members have participated in golf outings, concerts, symphonies, comedy shows, dinners, game nights, murder mystery events, pool parties, card games and other social activities.

The club is led by President Susan Saleh, Vice President Thea Morrison, Financial Officer Ronnie Gurin and Secretary Roseann Fusco. Together, the board organizes events, outings and celebrations designed to provide residents with opportunities to connect and become more involved in CVE’s social life.

The Century Village East Social Club generally meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the GP-A Room. The first meeting of the new season will be an exception and will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Annual membership is $25 for the 2026-27 season. Cash and checks are accepted at meetings, and payment may also be made through Zelle at CVESC954@yahoo.com.
