CVE Chess Club Hosts Simultaneous Exhibition Match

Residents of Century Village East recently tested their chess skills during a special simultaneous exhibition match hosted by the CVE Chess Club.
The event featured former Cincinnati State Chess Champion Sergey Berchenko, who played multiple games at the same time against club members of varying skill levels. Berchenko, who spends part of the year in Century Village East, has now participated in the event for the second consecutive year.
“I’ve noticed some improvement over last year,” Berchenko said. “We are planning to make it an annual event and hope next year there will be more participants and even more improvement among the players.”
Club members say the CVE Chess Club continues to attract residents looking for friendly competition, social interaction and mental stimulation. Residents interested in joining or learning more about chess classes can contact the Century Village East Activities Office.
