Adam Richter’s dream was to sing in front of a large audience. After years of singing with a small group of karaoke singers at the Clubhouse pool, the 84-year-old Village resident’s dream finally came true on March 6 at the CVE Choraleers’ annual performance.
Joined by chorus member Julie Grasso, Richter gave his rendition of “Music! Music! Music!”—a song composed in 1949 by Stephen Weiss and made famous in 1954 by a young Theresa Brewer. The opening refrain begins, “Put another nickel in, in the nickelodeon, all I want is loving you and music, music, music. “ With Richter’s wife Maryann cheering him on, the audience and chorus members enthusiastically joined in.
“I am so excited,” said Richter following the concert. “I wish I could do it again. I’m living a dream.”
“We did our mitzvah, (good deed), for this wonderful sweet man,” said chorus member Tina Klein. who also chaired the Silent Auction that preceded the concert. Both events helped raise funds for the Choraleers, celebrating its 51st year at CVE.
“If you attended the concert and were inspired to join us for next season,” says Klein, “please pick up a Choraleers flier at the Clubhouse staff office or call me at 310-990-6762.” The group can also be contacted by email at cvechoraleers@gmail.com.
The Choraleers begins rehearsing for the 2026 show in December.
