October was National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Since October was National Cyber Security Awareness (NCSAM) month, we recruited Bob Gostischa, nationally known security expert to make a presentation on this trending topic. In thishighly informative and entertaining presentation, participants learned about the wide variety of schemes and scams that have made seniors vulnerable targets in Century Village East and throughout the world. Bob discussed Red Flags to avoid the most used cybersecurity scams including but not limited to identity theft, unsolicited and suspicious messages asking you to act quickly or lose financial rewards, AI deep voice and image fakes in email, social media posts that put you, your loved ones and friends in danger, faked bank and investment sites, ways to protect yourself online and offline when shopping, and much more. A lively interactive Q and A followed the presentation. Participants shared their knowledge and experience of schemes that they and their loved ones and friends have experienced. The Century Village Reporter has featured articles on Century Village Seniors who have been helpless victims.
