Pen Making Class – A Pentastic Adventure!!

An exciting course on how to make pens is offered in the CVE woodworking shop.  The course is not expensive. In fact, even the most penurious individuals can afford it.

When I first saw the notice for the Pen Making Class I was a bit pensive.   But I signed up anyway.  I’m glad I did.

Our enthusiastic class of six clearly had pent-up energy; we were raring to get to work.  As the class progressed, we all developed a penchant for this wonderful craft.   The good news was that even if we sometimes made a mistake we were never penalized.  When we saw how beautiful our newly created pens were, our excitement resulted in a stupendous pendemonium.

Pens can be made from many types of wood.  One student made a pen from a piece of an aspentree which she brought from Pennsylvania.  However, there is another option to making a penfrom wood.  On the penultimate day of a recent course one student completed a beautiful penmade of acrylic.  It was pensational.

The number of pens you will make during a class will depend on how quickly you work.  Graduates of the course who join the club can continue to make pens independently.

There may just be an unanticipated benefit in making pens.  Two of my classmates (who are now my pen pals) recently sold a couple of their pens which compensated them for their initial expenditure for the course.

I found creating pens so interesting and enjoyable that for a time I was a member of a small team which teaches pen making.   In fact, I spent so much time in the workshop teaching and making pens that one of my pen pals asked me if I was serving time in a penitentiary.

I encourage you to be open to exploring this new adventure and joining other pensioners inlearning a new skill.   Suspend what you are doing right now and sign up!  It will be astupendous opportunity for you to develop and sharpen new skills.
