The Russian Matryoshka Club will host a Nesting Dolls Decoration Workshop on April 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering participants the opportunity to learn about the history and styles of Russian matryoshka dolls while decorating their own three-piece wooden set. The cost of materials is $15, and those interested can request additional details by contacting russianmatryoshkaclub@gmail.com.

The upcoming workshop follows the club’s March 8 International Women’s Day gathering, where members and guests participated in a women’s circle. The event featured a display of nesting dolls and included discussion of their origins, which began in Japan before being adapted in Russia and gaining international recognition after the 1900 Paris Exposition. Today, nesting dolls are produced in several countries, including Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, China, India, and Alaska, while continuing to symbolize motherhood and the circle of life.

During the gathering, participants discussed feminine energies and took part in a healing dance led by Larissa Dyan. The club has announced that its next women’s circle will be held on Mother’s Day, with additional details to be posted.

Looking ahead, the club will also host a discussion of the Russian film “Teacher” on May 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., led by scriptwriter Ekaterina Asmus. The film will be presented in Russian with English subtitles, with the location to be announced.
